Testimony #2

Gina Ciccone

Gina Ciccone was born and raised in Colorado; she graduated from high school in 1984. She then moved to Iowa, and at age 40, she went back to school—attending Iowa Western Community College where she obtained her AA degree in Human Services with a major in Addictions Counseling. In 2008, she returned to Colorado to care for her father, who was ill. While attending Metro, she changed her major to social work. Gina is currently a senior; and plans to graduate in May of 2012 with a BSW as an Colorado Addictions Counselor. Her next goal is to study for a Masters of Social Work, a program also at Metro State.

She chose addictions counseling, because she experienced addiction, homeless, and the loss of her children. She currently has over six years of sobriety. One of Gina’s goal is to gain permanent employment at the Denver Rescue Mission (DRM), where she is currently serving as an intern. She is also a dedicated and active member of the Episcopal Church.

I support Gina’s work to help others. As many who have achieved deliverance from addictions will attest, helping others out of dire circumstance is good therapy and a means for one to stay delivered themselves. This is a philosophy held by 12 steppers, Christians and most other religions.

Her testimony is included here, because I support her work in the field of addiction counseling and her efforts to aspire to higher achievements in this field.
